Continuing Series in the Life of a Pastoral Care Pastor

Day in the life of a Pastoral Care Pastor
June 1 & 2, 2010, – Monday & Tuesday: Today started with no alarm clock to wake me because she spent the weekend with my daughter as Jeanette and I were in Buffalo for a wedding. Darryl Walter’s son got married and since it was near Niagara Falls we extended it a few days so we could view the falls. Took some great shots, must visit my Facebook site to view them. www.cfcpastoralcare.blogspot.com . Traveled back home via United…52 minute flight…verse 12 hours on the train going up. Before you say anything…we took the train for the experience as neither of us had ever been on a train ride. It brought back memories of me selling newspapers on the trains at the Portsmouth train station. Used to buy papers for 3 cents and sell them for 5 and I used to sneak on the train when the conductor wasn’t looking and sell as many as I could before the train started moving and he ran me off…ah the “good ole days” so it brought back some memories but it was a long trip. So, the 53 minute flight makes much better sense and besides we used airline miles so it cost us nothing, which is always good. Tuesday, vacation day so I relaxed most of the day before meeting my daughter in Centreville to pick up our little Penny…my alarm clock. Cooked some chicken on the grill and the young lady we are helping came over so we spent several hours in the evening ministering to her. She is expecting a baby and her finances were in a mess so we have been helping her get back on track…this was our 8th meeting and she is catching on very well. She is starting to get focused and with the baby coming along she not only needs prayer support but will need to have her finances in good shape. Things will be fixed with God’s help.

Books Currently Reading: Sheep in Wolves Clothing by Valerie J. McIntyre; Lucifer Exposed by Derek Prince; Lasting Impressions by Mark Waltz
I have a few more pages in Lasting Impressions to go. Have read Sheep in Wolves Clothing many years ago and have picked it up to refresh my mind and because it was recently recommended to me by my Altar Director. Lucifer Exposed is written by one of my favorite bible teachers. Although he has passed away I still have many of his books that I refer to quite often.

Current Bible Readings / Studies: Not studying any particular topic at the moment just reading recreationally. Read Revelation recently as our Pastor was preaching through this book. I am also reading some of the Pauline Epistles about duties of Elders and Deacons.

Devotions: Currently reading through the bible with a program that chronologically lays out the scriptures in the sequence they occurred or more likely to have occurred. It has many footnotes and is a very intense program designed by a member of my church and my golfing buddy.
